Well, after we got our customary "Carry On My Wayward Son" song, that we get in every season finale (and a barrage of clips from the season), we get on with the show.
A bit of time has passed since the events of last weeks. A lot of the characters (including Rowena and Charlie) have scatted to the four winds. Only Sam, Dean, Cas, Bobby, Mary, Jack, and a few of the refugees remain at the bunker. Dean is talking retirement, feeling that he has done his share in saving the world.
Of course, things are not peaceful for long. Maggie, a young girl, and one of the refugees, from the alternate Earth, is found murdered. Jack is determined to find out who. He nearly kills the last person who was known to be with Maggie. However, Sam, Dean, and Cas stop him. It's at this point that Michael shows up, having crossed over to our world, thanks to his deal with Lucifer.
Of course, that means Lucifer has also crossed over. And he wants to bond with his son, or so he claims. He says that he will do anything for Jack. So, Jack asks him to bring Maggie back to life. For some reason, Lucifer is reluctant to do so.
However, in the end, he gives in and Maggie is returned to life. However, the question remains, why did he not want to bring her back. The truth was, Lucifer was the one that killed her, when she overheard him and Michael talking.
It's at this point that everyone finds out about the deal that Lucifer and Michael made. Lucifer gets Jack, and Michael gets Earth.
When Jack forces Lucifer to tell the truth, he makes his choice, Lucifer is not his father anymore. Before they can get any further, Michael shows up. Jack manages to defeat Michael, but Lucifer manages to stab him and take some of his grace. He teleports himself and Jack away, and Sam is taken along when he tries to stop them.
At a new location, Lucifer tries to force Sam and Jack to fight and kill each other.
Back at the bunker, in order to defeat Lucifer and save Sam and Jack, Dean makes a deal with Michael. He would let Michael into his body, so long as Dean remains in control. Bad idea.
Meanwhile, Jack is about to kill himself, to save Sam. He tells Sam that he loves him. However, at that point, Dean/Michael shows up and battles Lucifer. After a curb stomp battle, and with help from Sam, Dean/Michael manages to kill Lucifer. Victory!
Well, I guess you can guess what happens next. Michael welshes on the deal, takes full control of Dean's body, and leaves.
And so we end with Dean basically being Michael's hostage. Our heroes can't kill Michael without killing Dean too.
Some other points:
-loved Bobby's reaction when he finds out that Trump is President. Bobby, you're not alone.
-so Rowena and Charlie have gone off together. Wonder what that will lead to.
-at least this Bobby and Charlie are alive.
-Lucifer is dead? For good?
-did anyone not see Michael's betrayal coming a mile off. Should have thought this through, Dean.
And so we end another season of SPN.
