Yep, I finally did an origin story for Rex and Hannah. I hope you enjoyed it.

Are you kidding me??? I had a great reply typed out and when I hit the quick reply...my browser decides to go slow and make me turn WIFI off and back on because the slowness was so terrible. And the reply is gone! D:<
Unable to remember exactly what I put, word for word, just know that what I originally had put down was very good and that I loved Story #50 a lot.
Also congrats on reaching 50 R&H stories, Tim! 🎉

I wanted to give R&H a good reason why they would turn away from humanity, and it came via Squire Edward Faversham. Faversham was a horrible man who abused his position. While the story doesn't state it, you can bet that Hannah was not the first women he pulled that with. I mean, as he said, who would take the word of a convicted witch over his. Back then, men were the top dogs.
Of course, he underestimated Hannah in the end.
Of course, Faversham would destroy Rex's scroll, due to Faversham's bigoted views.
Thanks, Matt.

It was sad too. Rex had worked very hard to get those scrolls too.

Yeah, and he had to watch them destroyed, by an ignorant fool who didn't understand them. Of course, he's more than replaced them, but you can see why Rex is so protective of the books and scrolls he has now.
And Hannah, well, imagine being convicted of witchcraft of someone, and then that same person then tries to rape you.
I made Faversham into a character that someone could easily hate. You don't feel bad for him, when Hannah finally stabs him to death.

I was happy when she stabbed him to death.

The hypocrite deserved it. He executed women for witchcraft, but had no problem with raping them.

Exactly. Which is what makes me love R&H. How you take societal issues from present and history and give them justice in where the good guys win.

It's like Harvey Weinstein (or The Monster, as Rose calls him in her book) and men like him. They used their positions of power to sexually abuse women.
The big difference is that it was a lot easier for them to get away with it in 1705. As I said, Hannah is probably not the only woman Faversham did that too. The only difference is that Hannah fought back, and won.
