Ah yes, the Day Of The Dead. Love to see the new Charmed Ones involved with that somehow.
I'd say it was Explanation B. Look at what happened every time the writers of the original show tackled another culture, they always went for the stereotypes. I could see them doing the same for holidays.

Yeah, it was, believe it or not.
Heck, I treated Halloween better in my R&H Chronicles stories. And it seems the reboot will do the same.

"and we didn't get another besides "Kill Billie Vol 1" in S8" Wait, that was a halloween episode??? Yup. We got Piper carving a pumpkin, then her and Paige greeting trick-or-treaters at the end of the episode: As far as I know, that was the lone holiday episode of any kind to occur during Paige's time on the show, and Halloween was barely a part of the episode. I'd say it was Explanation B. Look at what happened every time the writers of the original show tackled another culture, they always went for the stereotypes. I could see them doing the same for holidays. I'd especially see that happening with a Thanksgiving episode. I could only imagine the offensive, stereotypical depictions of Native Americans Kernus would've likely pulled out of his butt. *shudder*

Yeah, Executive Meddling, on the part of the WB, screwed up their Christmas episode, A Paige From The Past (which is why we got all that Frankie/Lulu rubbish). Hopefully, the CW will leave them alone and let them make the show. What truly killed Charmed's chances of ever doing a Christmas episode was the move to Sundays in S5. When that happened, the show stopped airing new episodes in December. Charmed really dropped the ball on holiday episodes, in general. We had to wait until S3 to even get a Halloween episode, and we didn't get another besides "Kill Billie Vol 1" in S8. And, besides that, the only other thing we got was a mediocre Valentine's Day episode in S2 ("Animal Pragmatism" ). Thanksgiving never even got a single episode, despite being a major American holiday. Why was Charmed so adverse to holiday episodes? Were there budget issues involved? Or, were the writers simply incapable of tying holidays into their storylines? I really doubt it will be a rip-off from "All Halliwell's Eve", which I admit I really love that episode. They won't be time-traveling into the past to see their ancestors, so how can they rip it off. It's just a Halloween episode for crying out loud. Halloween should be a staple of the reboot every season. I'd love a Christmas episode. The CW does those often now. And Sabrina was known for those holiday-themed episodes. I keep thinking of the series Grimm with what they did for their Christmas episodes. The only supernatural drama I remember they did so well with Christmas themed episodes. Agreed. It's stupid for people to automatically assume that this will be an "All Halliwell's Eve" ripoff when they know NOTHING about the episode or its plot. Frankly, I think it's awesome that the reboot is jumping right into a Halloween episode in its first season, which is what the original Charmed should've done as well. Given the reboot sisters' Latina heritage, it'd be cool to have a Halloween episode based on Día de Muertos. Lots of great storytelling potential there. That's right. I think doing a Halloween is a great thing, and I wished Charmed did it in S1, or like Buffy where it was very two seasons, so we have a little spread out. Lots they can do with that. I could only imagine the offensive, stereotypical depictions of Native Americans Kernus would've likely pulled out of his butt. *shudder* I didn't remember that was a Halloween apart from just a few scenes. I love it when it's the whole basis of an episode. As I said before, I truly hope this is a regular thing every single season.

Good preview. I'm looking forward to checking it out of course I'll watch to see what they do, hoping that people's fears of the political issues being too preachy can relax a little and we get to see some great and interesting stuff.

Me too.
One of the mistakes of the original series was getting too much into that 90's "Girl power" thing. That looks very outdated now, twenty years later.

I wonder how they will keep their secret hidden in a much smaller town than the big city like in the original series. That actually adds more and allows the sisters to not turn into the horrible sisters who didn't care, now they have to be more careful of using their powers in public.

Yeah, no All Hell Breaks Loose. What the original sisters did in that episode was stupid beyond belief (fighting Shax out in the open where all could see).
These new Charmed Ones will, hopefully, be very careful.
