I hope these Elders are not the pricks the ones of the original series are.
Truth be told, I could live without any Elders this time.

I wished they were cut, but maybe they'll improve them this time.

I don't actually want the Elders seen this time around like the Source but if the reboot is gonna do it then hopefully a marked improvement is used on them.

Yeah, I hope so too. We don't need a new version of the pricks that Kernus gave us, thank you.

If the Elders don't butt in and let the sisters make up their own decisions. Free will and all but offer help and advice all the way then I'd be okay with them.

Yeah, I would be okay with that. The less seen of them, the better.

It seems like this episode brought up a similar issue that the original show brought up in "Apocalypse, Not" -- Do you kill your friend if it means saving everyone else? Luckily, the sisters found a way to save Angela, but it inadvertently came at the cost of Trip's life, so there was still a consequence. I actually didn't mind the way the Elders were portrayed here. Unlike in the original, they appear to be a governing body made up of witches rather than whitelighters, so they're more akin to the Witches Council of Bewitched and Sabrina. They also appear to be far more female than in the original, with the sisters' mother even having been one. I feel like the ongoing story of the Elders in this show is going to be less "powerful old white men telling helpless women what to do" and more "powerful white women who think they know better than women of color" (aka. white feminism). Very fitting that Marisol's "illegal" exorcism spell was a Spanish Santeria spell instead of Latin like all the others. Still feeling zero chemistry between Maggie and Parker, and he's already got a girlfriend, too. Ugh. I wish he'd just go away. Overall, a great episode.

I too like these new version of the Elders. Looks they exist here on Earth, and not in the clouds (and no scenes on that damned bridge). These Elders are more human than angel, IMO.
Still, that was a dick move that Charity did with Officer Redshirt. She made it so that be will be accused of the murders that took place in the Halloween episode. And he's in no position to defend himself, since he's now dead (Charity made it look like he committed suicide). Look at Niko's reaction, she is in tears when she hears that her partner and friend is now being labeled a killer. And the same will happen to the guy's family and other friends. I get the feeling that the sisters will not be happy about this.
And this guy was a Redshirt. A guest character we've never seen before, alongside a regular. I sure called it there when I suspected that this guy is not gonna see the end of the episode. And while I didn't want him dead, I also didn't want a "nosy cop getting in the sisters way" storyline. Didn't like it on the original series, and I don't want it here.
Still, the sisters were right in that they saved Angela, without having to kill her.
Liked that Macy put her scientific skills to good use again.
I agree about Parker. Drop him, please.
I too liked this episode.

I tried typing out my review but the forum froze on me, and I couldn't save it. But all I want to say was I liked the episode, the only part I hated what setting up the poor cop, very typical of the Elders or the original Charmed Ones. But I love that the Elders are witches, I know we speculated or hoped this a while back on the forum. I believe the demon or warlock at the end may be our new Rex. Because the actor who played him is Craig Parker, and who was rumored to be keeping his eye on the Charmed Ones and was Macy's new boss replacing the one who died in the pilot. Do not care for Parker, why did they upgrade him to regular soon. Ditch him. Only Niko works. Galvin isn't adding much either. I'm sad Niko lost her partner. I thought since Trip has appeared in the show since the start, he would survive and be our Darryl. Guess not, and nope he is killed off after four episodes.

But all I want to say was I liked the episode, the only part I hated what setting up the poor cop, very typical of the Elders or the original Charmed Ones. However, unlike the original show, it looks like this will actually be explored as a plot point instead of just being dropped without resolution. The problem with the original Elders and Charmed Ones wasn't necessarily that the showed moral ambiguity, but that they showed moral ambiguity without ever facing any consequences. We were still expected to see them as pure and heroic despite their actions. Luckily, this show won't be plagued by the outdated black and white morality of the original. I believe the demon or warlock at the end may be our new Rex. Because the actor who played him is Craig Parker, and who was rumored to be keeping his eye on the Charmed Ones and was Macy's new boss replacing the one who died in the pilot. That what I was thinking, myself. Interested to see where this storyline goes.

Obscurus Lupa said it best, the Elders are dicks. Granted she meant the original series Elders, but some of this lot qualify as well.
Yeah, I can't see the sisters just letting this go.
An innocent man was not only killed, but now his reputation will be destroyed, as the Elders are setting it up to make it look like he killed those people at Halloween, and then committed suicide. The Elders seemingly don't care of the consequences of their actions.
Look at how poor Niko was in tears, and you knew that Mel wanted to tell her the truth.
Mel, Maggie, and Macy really need to call the Elders out on this.

I like the new take on the Elders, I just wish they'd have changed the whitelighters and not made them Angels. But I am sure we'll learn what the criteria is for someone becoming a whitelighter and how the Elder witches make this decision?
Are Whitelighters witches too that die and become one?
It does look like we'll be keeping our eyes out for the new Rex, and yes I believe one of the news stories did say he was Macy's boss. So yes, in a way he is our new Rex. He doesn't have a Hannah yet.
