Anyone moaning about the current inconveniences doesn't know squat. The last century has been horrible to the people of Armenia. Mass genocide. Exodus from homelands. Stalin. A massive earthquake. The collapse of the Soviet Union. War with Azerbaijan. Kimmy K. And, Karen over here thinks her life is over because she can't get her split ends trimmed. Give me a damn break.

These people have been to Hell and back.
Love how you put Kimmy K in there with the rest of the misery. Because, as you said, most people probably picture her, or one of her siblings, when the term "Armenian American" comes up.

It's just sad that the Kardashians brought back the Armenian to the public.

Gotta feel bad for Armenia as a whole.
They're like that little kid in the schoolyard that the bullies (Turkey and Russia) are always beating up.

They're like that little kid in the schoolyard that the bullies (Turkey and Russia) are always beating up. And, the other kids (US and Western Europe) have all turned a blind eye because they care more about having their Turkish military bases for Middle Eastern imperial wars. Plus, they probably also see their own histories of colonialism and genocide over there. You know who's history has a lot in common with Armenians? Native Americans.

Indeed that's true. In the case of the Native Americans, the bullies are new kids that moved into the neighbourhood and took it over.

That pretty much happened with Armenians, as well. The land that makes up present-day Turkey was originally Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek. The Turks didn't show up there until the 11th Century, when they invaded from Central Asia and conquered Anatolia (resulting in the eventual formation of the Ottoman Empire). Turks are as native to that land as white people are to North America.

Some cultures on our Earth are so old by now and still exists. That's a miracle in my eyes. Or that cultures could save their traditions over centuries.

Except the poor Armenians have been stomped on for centuries. It's a wonder any of their culture is left.

We all know why. Because they're not rich and white.
And Turkey wants to finish what it started a century ago

And Turkey wants to finish what it started a century ago This should've been obvious after what happened in Syria last fall. Erdogan wants to rebuild the Ottoman Empire, and he will dispose of any pesky ethnic minorities who stand in his way. And, guess what? The ethnic cleansing of Northern Syria is still happening, and nobody cares. Once COVID stole the headlines this past winter, everything else got shoved to the backburner. On top of that, Turkey is still considered a NATO ally, so the West is afraid they'll lose their "gateway to the Middle East" if they call out Turkish fascism. Never mind that Erdogan's more interested in being buddies with The Vlad than anyone in NATO...

Erdogan saw that no one was looking and took this opportunity.
Covid-19 is a gift from God to him because he feels that, since the world is distracted, no one will pay attention to his ethnic cleansing operations.
And, sadly, he's right.

What's happening in Syria right now should scare everyone.Back in the late 90s, NATO dropped bombs on what was once Yugoslavia to stop the ethnic cleansing of Kosovar Albanians. The legitimacy of this bombing is still hotly debated nowadays. Was NATO acting on genuine humanitarian grounds, or was it nothing more than a display of violent Western imperialism? Well, Northern Syria could end up putting that question to the test. If military intervention to save the Kosovar Albanians and help stabilize the Balkans was justified, then surely that's also true here, right? Thousands of Kurds, Yezidis, Armenians, and Assyrians are currently facing genocide. The region around the Levant and South Caucasus is extremely unstable and rapidly collapsing into dictatorship and war. Thousands will die, and even more thousands will be permanently displaced. And, this is all with COVID still going around. If NATO was genuine in its humanitarian aims, it would do something, right? The lives of Kurds, Yezidis, Armenians, and Assyrians don't magically become less valuable and less in need of protecting just because their aggressor is a NATO ally, right? Is outdated Cold War politics still a good enough excuse for the West to look the other way in regards to Turkish fascism and ethnic cleansing?

Turkey needs to be called out on this. Perhaps if NATO takes a strong stand, Erdogan might back off.
Bullies don't like the spotlight.
