Welcome back and glad you had fun there. I can imagine that Vegas is also expensive. Well, if I had once enough money, I'd go to Vegas. lol

Obviously unlike the UK smoking in buildings in Las Vegas isn't banned I guess.
Las Vegas seems to cater to all cultures and ages which couples or families will look upon before deciding which hotel to stay in.
When you mentioned visiting Las Vegas I immediately thought of the original CSI which was set there actually.

I guess smoking is allowed so that gamblers don’t leave the tables, but kids don’t go to the casinos anyways. Some of the casinos like the Bellagio are really fancy and attract posh people while others like the Flamingo are more working class, the themed resorts tend to attract more middle class people. In addition drinking in public and smoking marijuana are legal so at any hour you’d see drunk and stoned people. If one is traveling with kids, then the best places to stay on the Strip would be Circus Circus which has an amusement park, Excalibur which has a huge arcade or New York New York which has roller coasters. They all have casinos but also kid friendly attractions

Las Vegas seemed to be a big playground - for adults. I mean, the way it started. Now it's attractive for anyone.

Yeah, the original casinos were built by the Mafia and Vegas had a reputation as an adult playground, kids didn’t go there. But in the 90s the city realized they could make more money if they catered to both gamblers and families, there’s lots to do if you don’t like gambling. There’s lots of shopping malls, restaurants with every kind of food, shows by musical artists, plays, Cirque du Soleil and professional sports, so there’s something for every taste

Wonder what Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel would think if he saw the place now.

Wonder what Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel would think if he saw the place now. He might be shocked at how big the city is and with all the casinos, but he’d probably be appalled that the Flamingo is kind of a dump. We wanted to see the flamingos in the casino’s zoo but the rest of the place was a dump. It reeked of cigarette smoke, there were drunks reeling about and it had a food court selling junk food instead of actual restaurants. He wanted to build a fancy casino but now the Flamingo is a dump full of fat drunks and reeked of cigarette and pot smoke, we saw people on the casino floor in pajamas reeking drunk 😖

It's good when places cater to other things besides gambling which isn't everyone's cup of tea especially if you have a limited budget although trying to win money's a reason most people visit Vegas been the gambling capital of the world.
If I went there that wouldn't be my main reason for going. Like Vanessa, I'd want to see what else the place offered whilst saving my wallet also.

Wonder what Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel would think if he saw the place now. I bet he'd be happy if he's still earned enough money, that is.

True. The Mafia put Las Vegas on the map and invented the concept of the casinos.

I've packed my suitcase for our Great Yarmouth holiday tomorrow although had to put my shoe bag in mum's case otherwise mine wouldn't close then.
The weather will be 20c most days so I'm wearing 2 dresses alternated but do have a small thing coat if it gets cold plus an umbrella in case of rain though highly unlikely there.
We'll have home made sandwiches/snacks/drink on the coach going and eat proper at the camp.
Coming back things are slightly changed as our coach from Norwich doesn't leave till 4:05 pm so we'll eat proper there and buy sandwich and snacks to eat on the coach later actually.
