Every year in the UK around September the country does what's called open-house events where you go inside historic or modern places or do walking tours for free obviously. You register online at this website programme.openhouse.org.uk/ which has loads of free stuff to do. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the capital. My friend and I tomorrow will visit the Museum of The Order of St John's Ambulance which allows public access to their historical building. programme.openhouse.org.uk/listings/5214I wonder if anyone else here has that sort of thing go on in their countries then?

You can Jana yeah.
There are so many things to see and do on the open house website a lot all in London which are easy to get to for me by train of course.
Certain places you have to book for which go very quickly like viewing inside what was actor Peter Cushing's house which went very fast I read.
Other things you can just drop by and view but those still have a booking feature if you want to go around that way to secure a place just in case.

I know it goes for Thuringia, yet I'm not sure about the other federal states here in Germany but could be there as well.

My friend and I visited the Museum Of The Order Of St. John (St John's Ambulance) and saw the upstairs bit not normally open to the public.
We left out the church and Crypt nearby subsequently and browsed around Guildhall Art Gallery instead.
Both places are within walking distance of one another.
Along the way, an event was going on in Old Smithfield Market called Bartholomew's Fair in honour of the famous hospital of that name close by.
It was kinder like a freak show circus with performing artists.
After the art gallery walking back, we stepped inside St. Bartholomew The Great Church famous for being used in certain films free entry like the other 2 things we did.
Had a drink in the pub two doors along then visited The Barbican Center where I will see My Neighbour Totoro next February.
Before coming home both of us ate in a Wetherspoon pub in Liverpool Street.
Took lots of photos which I'll share once I've posted them when I get in.

Today mum and I took an Uber boat trip from Tilbury Docks up to London Bridge which happens a few times year and was something we'd not yet done.
The boat travelled from Gravesend and collected us before sailing through the QE2 bridge and past Rainham Marshes, Dagenham Docks, Erith, Thamesmead, Creekmouth Barking and then the usual route onward from Barking Riverside Pier.
Arriving around 11 we ventured onto Knightsbridge and had lunch before looking inside Harrods department store somewhere we'd not been inside either.
We liked the decor throughout the store and browsed every floor except the ground one and bought some jam and tea from the food court downstairs.
Mum also got my sister a Christmas bear from the Xmas area. Yes, Harrods has Xmas products already out.
Our boat was due to leave London Bridge at 5 pm to return back to Tilbury so we left Harrods around 3:30 to get there in time and eat our sandwiches before that came.
Arriving back, I drove home.

Before my sister's birthday on Wednesday Mum and I took her to Shepreth Wildlife Park in Cambridgeshire which we hadn't visited prior. sheprethwildlifepark.co.uk/ The place wasn't as big as other zoos we've seen but was nice to view all the same. Being medium sized we had enough time to eat and partake of all the animals before closing time at 5 p.m. Traffic home was okay, so we got back without any delays barring me topping my car up with petrol naturally. We'll see her on Wednesday and pass on Mum's presents she bought her then.

Mum and I today visited the Postal Museum in London near Farringdon and King's Cross belonging to Royal Mail which once served the Mail Rail train that whisked post across London using underground tunnels for 75 years ending in 2003. www.postalmuseum.org/Entry was £16 which included the train ride we did first. The exhibition part was small but enjoyable also. I got to pilot a couple of trains along a miniature track and feel what it's like sorting mail into their rightful compartments whilst been inside a makeshift area as that moved along a pretend train also. Our trip was cut short due to an unfortunate accident that wasn't too bad but enough to make us head home but otherwise, I'm glad we went though. EDIT: Seems we didn't see the whole museum as there were another exhibition room in a separate building across the road which I should've known about beforehand from the website overall. With the accident that happened though Mum and I wouldn't have been able to see the other building anyway but there's always another time of course.
