The alternator on my car needs replacing as my Suzuki would not start this evening.
It's a small piece of equipment that connects to the battery and helps it hold charge.
I called out my breakdown cover who used their jump leads and started the motor up.
I drained his battery each time turning the engine on.
The man told me to drive around for 20 minutes which I did and to do that again tomorrow to keep the charge going if the vehicle starts and to then phone the car company I bought the vehicle from and get them to fix that under their 90-day warranty which runs out Feb 16th so I don't pay anything.
Replacement part looking online range between £90 to £250 depending what alternator I purchase then.
This fault wasn't there when I collected the car and so developed a month later meaning it wasn't Cinch's problem initially.

Ouch, that's bad, Katherine. Good luck with that part. Hopefully there'll be no more trouble then.

It is Tim yes.
Didn't expect that to happen but it has which is annoying as Mum, my sister, and we're due to have visited a local Christmas lights attraction yesterday that wasn't a lot cost-wise but frustrating nonetheless.
Rebooked it just for Mum and me on Friday because we can get a bus there but slightly sad my sister won't get to see it as the only other 2 dates available were Thursday and New Year's Day when she's not with us obviously.
Will have to ring Cinch when they reopen tomorrow and get the ball rolling then.

What a thing to happen on Christmas.
They should fix it free of charge, IMO.

That's what the 90-day warranty is for.
If I claim under Cinch and they provide a new alternator it shouldn't cost me for parts or labour.
I did take the car out for a spin today when that started up and drove it around for 30 minutes to give some charge which I'll try again tomorrow but still call Cinch as well afterward.

Contacted Cinch about my car who will take that away and get a new alternator put in hopefully though I could wait 3 days for them to get back to me when that will happen naturally.
A hire car will be given whilst repairs take place so I'm not left without a vehicle which is great then.
If things go well I may extend the warranty with them at £34.99 a month just for the hire car even if nothing happens for a long time so that's there in case I need it again.

Well, hopefully they can manage this and you can have your car for a long time then - without problems.

A representative from Cinch came around and loaded up my vehicle on their recovery truck and offloaded the hire car I was having but I had to decline that because it's a manual motor and I only drive automatic having passed my test in that so once he's got back to Cinch's base with my car he would have to inform them of the situation and they'll have to get in touch with me about exchanging the courtesy car for the right one then.
What a nightmare.
Mum wondered why the person on the phone who sorted the courtesy vehicle didn't ask whether I needed a manual or automatic car which I replied was because more people drive manual than auto.
Hopefully, I get the right one before returning to work on Thursday of course.
