It's frustrating when you ring for a doctor's appointment and wait an hour in the queue to be told the receptionist can't take your call at the moment.
Have been trying since 8:30 this morning to make an appointment for Mum who has had some trouble walking on her right leg which started Saturday whilst we were out when I noticed she wasn't walking probably as in her body was tilting on its left side and then yesterday she was limping having to hold onto door frames or desktops, and stairs to steady herself with me driving to pick up my sister and take her back because Mum couldn't walk 5 minutes around the corner.
I had to hold onto her when we entered my sister's care home due to the pain she experienced.
We have a Polyclinic nearby us which is a walkthrough so may have to go there after coming home from work this evening.
The pain she's experiencing on the inside of her leg below the knee to the bottom is 6 out of 10 but considering how my sister will stay with us this weekend before we go away for Mum's birthday next Friday something obviously needs to be done.
She's fine sitting down though.

Sounds worrying Katherine, best to get it check out imo just in case.
Its ridiculous trying to get a GP appointment these days, even if you ring by opening time you're placed in a huge queue that takes ages to get through.

Yeah well, my surgery is a busy one so that's that, unfortunately.
We're at the walk-in centre waiting to register so I'm hoping something can be done.
It's like a hospital but smaller of course.
Will keep people posted on her condition.

No one should have to wait that long, IMO. Yeah it sucks. Even going to a GP there's a wait. I never get seen on time even if I called ahead.

I've had that same experience.
When I fractured my shoulder, I had to wait.

You always have to wait for a doctor's appointment. No matter what.
Wish your mom all the best, Katherine.

Thanks guys.
We were referred to our local hospital where we have been since 10 pm due to possible circulatory problems then.
Mum had blood drawn plus a cannula put in but is still in the first area of the same-day emergency care place because I don't think there are beds in the next department currently so it's a waiting game at the moment.
I've informed one of my managers at the Y about the possibility of not doing breakfast club if we're still here but she wants me to keep her updated.
With Mum not being able to move a few feet unaided neither of us can leave until we know what's causing her pain plus she has no way of getting home on the bus herself meaning I need to drive her back obviously.

Finally saw a doctor who asked Mum the same kind of questions the first one did and then mentioned he would speak to one of his colleagues.
Mum will be having a scan although she didn't say which one then.

CT scan revealed nothing untoward. The doctor reckons it's muscle pain which he needs to consult with his colleague who if is in agreement will discharge Mum and give her painkillers that I assume will be strong ones to help allow to rewalk herself.
The backlog of patients caused many delays for people being seen with some having been here since 11 am yesterday.
Radiology was filled with patients in the waiting area with others having to be turned away or told come another day.

You'll be lucky to be seen on time. That's standard for GPs and ERs.
