I think one of the reasons those other tries failed is because they changed the premised too much. Nancy Drew is NOT a middle aged woman, she's a teenage girl.
Thankfully, this new version seems to be keeping Nancy the age she should be.

That's right.
Agreed. They have done well. Looks promising, and paired with Riverdale, it has the best show to be paired with, and should hopefully do well. I think The CW, will not pair Katey Kane with Riverdale and might think, it can be a self-starter on another night and Riverdale fans will follow.
I look forward to hearing more about this show. It also being a CBS production, means like Charmed, it has a shot to stick around.

The CW's core audience are teens and people in their early 20's.
Nancy should be a perfect fit here.

Yeah The CW should move forward and can't survive with Vampires and DC shows forever.
We'll see how Nancy Drew does. Looks good.

Yeah, I hope this new Nancy Drew does well.
Of course, she hasn't had a good track record on TV since the 1970's.

Hopefully she can now. She hasn't in 40 years. Maybe it will pay off now. We'll see.

In Canada, Nancy will air on the W Channel (the same channel that the Charmed reboot airs on up here).
It will air at the same time that it does on the CW.

Are they going to stretch this one murder out the whole season!? This is NOT how Nancy Drew is supposed to work.
Granted, my knowledge of Nancy Drew lore is limited, but weren't the books all self contained. Something happened (a murder, a robbery, etc.), Nancy got involved, hijinks ensued, Nancy solved the case, and the villian was hauled off to prison, the end. On to the next book and a whole new mystery.
And what is it with the ghosts, witches, and curses. I always thought that the books were more grounded. Meaning that no matter what mystery Nancy got involved in, in the there was always a human behind it. What's next? If Nancy gets abducted by aliens, I'm out.
It's like the CW took Veronica Mars, cross pollinated it with Charmed, and slapped the Nancy Drew name on it.
I wonder how longtime Nancy Drew fans feel about this?

That is just how television is these days sadly, less case of the week or one-shot episodes, more on-going mystery to keep people watching. I'm honestly not surprised they did that, even if it isn't how we'd want Nancy Drew. I wished they did do mystery of the week, it would be nice to sit down and follow one mystery, so I can keep guessing in an hour. Thank god, they don't make a live action series of Scooby Doo, I'll bet the mysteries of the week will have real monsters in them. My knowledge isn't that great either Tim. Maybe this is a new version of Nancy books they are basing it off, like the new Sabrina comics with the show. More Modern, less the old ways. Maybe it is less grounded in them, but I don't know. I sure hope, Nancy doesn't abducted by aliens, I'll be out too, Tim.

I wonder if the creators of this show even read a Nancy Drew book.
In the original Scooby Doo show, it was always a human in disguise. It was not until the 1980's that they started bringing in real ghosts and monsters.
I don't know either. However, aren't detective stories usually more grounded. I mean Sherlock Holmes was never pitted against ghosts and such (at least not in the original books by Arthur Conan Doyle).
According to TV Tropes, this IS the first incarnation of Nancy Drew to feature ghosts and other supernatural elements.
Leave the aliens to Mulder and Scully.

And Nancy Drew got their back nine order for 22 episodes. Be interesting to see where the show goes.

Once again we had a ghost. And it seems to be pointing Nancy in the right direction. The ghost seemed to possess George at the end of the episode. Nancy started with a Dana Scully type attitude, and, like Scully, her whole belief system has been turned upside down. Nancy now has to accept that ghosts do exist. Interesting plot development. Nancy finds out that Bess (a co-worker at the restaurant that Nancy works at) was not who she claimed to be. Rather, she came from Britain. When Nancy confronts Bess about this, Bess, unmasked, starts talking in a British accent. The actor playing Bess is, in fact, British. I wonder if she just used her natural accent for this.

Yep she sure does, and I like seeing her struggle with her belief system, as it is only natural to feel that way. I didn't know the actor playing Bess was in fact British. I guess they did let her use her natural accent. Sometimes, I don't know why shows don't just let them use their natural accent, unless being American is specific to the character. I don't think it should matter.
