From what I’ve read, it was the mother’s gun and she had it lying around. The child deliberately shot the teacher and was kicking and hitting the security guard who restrained him, it sounds like this kid is a little psychopath. And Newport News in Virginia is a rough place, I’ve been there when my brother was stationed in Norfolk and we accidentally got lost there. It’s considered the bad area in Hampton Roads, it’s just one of those WTF things 😳

This is crazy and should never have happened at all. Yet it certainly isn't the first time that a kid can get a gun easily and shoot someone close to their reach.
When will this stop?

And what blew my mind was this was a 6-year old, for him to steal his mom’s gun, bring it to school, aim it at the teacher and pull the trigger blows my mind. It makes you wonder what he’s been watching or what his home life is like and why he was so angry at the teacher, this is far from normal. His mom should be arrested and he should be taken away from her, she’s a terrible mother

WTF. 6 years old. I'm speechless. Lock the mother up and keep her away from her son.

The most horrific thing about this whole incident is that the kid deliberately aimed at the teacher, he’d brought a gun to school to shoot the teacher. I wonder if the teacher reprimanded him and he decided to get revenge, that is seriously disturbing to think about. I work with kids this age and sometimes we have to reprimand them if they don’t follow directions or might hurt themselves, like climbing on furniture or to sit down for lunch. Ultimately this is the parents’ fault for having a gun lying around and not teaching the boy how to behave in class, or that violence is not an acceptable way to settle things

That kid should not have had easy access to that gun.
As I said, the mother should be charged with criminal negligence.

There needs to be a law against this. Especially with weapons in children's hands but there's always the 2nd Amendment. I'm sick and tired of this excuse!!

Yeah, an amendment, that was written in 1787, is totally relevant today

In Virginia it’s illegal for children under the age of seven to handle firearms, that’s probably for people who take kids hunting. But this is really the height of irresponsibility on the part of the mother, leaving a loaded, unlocked gun where a kid can grab it. And it makes you wonder how the child was raised, that he’d actually try to kill his teacher at that age. CPS has to investigate, this whole situation sounds horrible

Seen a documentary once in TV where this was played out how kids could get trained on weapons, even for their own sizes. I only shook my head at this bizarre picture. Or more disturbing a PINK gun for young ladies. Yikes!

I’ve heard of those, that is seriously disturbing. No kid at that age should be handling live firearms, this is not pioneer times. CPS should really investigate this kid’s family, it’s not normal for a child to have that much anger or have loaded firearms easily available

Yeah, it's not 1787 anymore.

Crazy. Absolutely crazy that a 6-year old had the instinct to acquire a gun and use it to shoot his teacher. The mother is at fault here, but for a child to think like that tells me there is something seriously wrong with them as well.

I work with kids that age and they stay angry for a short time, then they’re back to normal. I wonder what the teacher said or did that warranted that urge to kill, kids might scream or kick but in a few minutes they’re back to normal. The child has neglectful parents who probably used violence around them or watched a lot of violent programming, CPS should really investigate this matter

That kid should not have been able to get a hold of a gun so easily.
