I also stayed at home and got lost in fanfiction, again. This time for Emergency! but this show has to wait still a bit. Some problems with an external drive but it may be solved soon, hopefully.
Never mind, I called some friends and watched the fireworks from my balcony (as promised). I didn't go out because of my bones.

How’s everyone doing this New Year’s Eve? Mom and I made a lasagna and I have to put it in the oven later for dinner, I got a bottle of pink champagne chilling in the fridge and I’m relaxing after spending the morning preparing for dinner

I'm already drinking champagne and eating some chips. Otherwise, reading and watching and later listening to some music, I guess. If there's a phone call, we shall see.

Just stayed home and drank Diet Pepsi.
I'm too old for bars and such.

As people here know already Mum and I don't go out in the evening and celebrate New Year's one because we're not club folk and two it's expensive to eat and drink then plus most places are sold out in terms of bookings anyway.
I also don't like fireworks being too noisy for me so I stay in wearing noise-cancelling headphones to try to drown that out obviously.
Seeing Peter Pan in panto during the late morning and early afternoon was our way of celebrating the day.
Despite that London does put on a good fireworks display which this one was combined with that and a drone show like last year of course.
A good place to see the display that's more widespread and open out is Alexandra Palace actually which gives you a good view and sound of the display still then.

Heard some firecrackers myself last night.
However, I live some distance from downtown, so they didn't bother me.

I had fallen asleep before midnight but got woken up by firecrackers and they kept going on until 3am.
I gotta say it's my least favourite holiday. Nothing much to it other than a new year starting. Unless I wanna get drunk and wasted which I don't. Lol

Some people do complain though that 3 am is too late to be letting off fireworks especially if folks have to work the next day and are trying to get to sleep or have young kids then.
In the UK it's illegal to let off fireworks past 1'oclock so they did stop after 1:30 am.

Here they usually stop around midnight.

Since every citizen can buy fireworks, it's a neverending story here. They start early and can't end. There's thinking about doing it centrally like in London or Sydney. But our bureaucracy is slow.
