Looks like B&B is getting the reboot treatment, too. Comedy Central Lands Re-Imagined Beavis And Butt-HeadI admit that I don't hate this as much as The Jodie Show, as Mike Judge is still involved, and I liked the 2011 revival. But, I still have misgivings. Do B&B really need a full-blown reboot to appeal to Gen Z kids who weren't even born yet when the original run ended? What about that Do America sequel that Mike Judge was talking about last year?

What's the point? Why reboot a show that the coveted viewing audience will not relate to.
Guess they learned nothing from the failure of the 2011 attempt.

As I said in regards to the Jodie thing, MTV might be trying to find a backup plan in animation after COVID shut down their reality TV gravy train. Cartoons are one of the few things that can still be produced normally while social distancing, so it's not exactly a bad idea to go that way.
However, MTV should be trying to make NEW cartoons instead of rebooting old stuff from the 90s. If they want to introduce the kids to B&B and Daria so badly, just put reruns on. Any Gen Z kids who would be willing to watch reboots of these shows would probably also be willing to watch the originals.

I agree, they should be making new stuff. However, they seem unwilling, or unable, to do so.
The question is why? Why is it so hard?

The original ran for a whopping 13 episodes. It failed years ago, what makes them think it will be a success now!?

I've never even heard of this show, so I hit up Wikipedia: So, it's not even MTV's to begin with. And, it had a controversial portrayal of Gandhi. Sounds like a winner! Also, please tell me what relevance "a parody of teen dramas such as Dawson's Creek and Beverly Hills, 90210" has in 2020? Today's teen shows are whacked-out murder mysteries (PLL, Riverdale) and edgy suicide dramas (13 Reasons Why), a far cry from the trials of West Beverly High.

Good old MTV, twenty years behind the times.
This pathetic joke of a network needs to die.

Never heard of this show. That Network is just stupid.
Wake me up in a decade, when we're back to original and creative ideas for shows. Honestly, may as well just keep re-watching my Classic favorite shows on DVD, reruns or online, because no point watching what has already been done before on television today.

No originality left anywhere. If MTV has to bring back a show that flopped in the first place.

EmptyV Execs: Hey, let's make a spinoff of Daria that stars a minor character that fans don't care about and is aimed at an audience that didn't watch the original show! EmptyV Execs: Hey, let's make a Gen Z reboot of Beavis & Butthead that's exactly like the 2011 revival that flopped in the ratings! EmptyV Execs: Hey, let's reboot an old, forgotten cartoon that ran for only 13 episodes and featured a controversial portrayal of Gandhi! EmptyV Execs: Wait, why aren't any of our new shows getting good ratings?

This is a good take on the B&B reboot:The failure of the 2011 revival should've been a red flag, and that version was aimed at Millennials, who at least still have a connection to the 90s and pre-9/11 America. But, how can a show like B&B even work with a generation who learned about 9/11 in history books, grew up with a Black president, and went to high school in the age of mass shootings, #BLM, and #MeToo? How would they even be able to review music videos, given that they stopped being shown on TV long before Gen Z came of age? Even the idiots' AC/DC and Metallica shirts would be wildly anachronistic. Gen Z is overwhelmingly a rap-listening generation. Rock music is their parent's music and is considered lame/uncool. Can we please just leave this one in the 90s?

Why does anyone even think it's a good idea to sell 90s nostalgia to Gen Z, anyways? The oldest Gen Z-ers were born in 1995, and a large chunk of the generation was born after 9/11. They literally have no memory of the 90s. Trying to sell 90s nostalgia to them is like trying to sell 50s nostalgia to Generation X. I mean, the average Gen Z-er has likely never even watched a music video on MTV. Many of them don't even know that the channel's name originally stood for "Music Television." (Today, it stands for "Mediocre Television," lol.)
