Thanks. Drawing them is therapeutic, TBH. It also helps give me ideas for stories.

Can't wait to see those stories.
Seems that Daria and Trent are to you what Rex and Hannah are to me.

Kind of, although they were actually main characters. They were just done very badly by their show. I wish I could just erase everything past ep 3x12.

Believe me, Betty, you are not alone.
Wish I could erase all Star Trek later than 2005, all Doctor Who later than 2019, etc.

Since I want to include him in my stories, I've made many arts with Trent and Jane's dad, Vincent. And, now you see where Trent's pretty looks came from. Although, the show never said anything about it, I strongly believe that Trent and Jane are Vincent's only two biological children. The other three (Summer, Wind, Penny) don't even remotely look like they could be his, and there's also a steep age gap between them and Trent/Jane, which you're more likely to see with half-siblings.

Yeah, I can see the resemblance.
The other three might be adopted.

I personally think they're Amanda's children from another marriage. They look enough like her to believably be her biological children. (Especially Summer and Wind... I could buy Penny being adopted, though.) Vincent barely appeared on the show, and he received very little backstory. He's a traveling photographer who's rarely at home, but he was shown to be very kind and supportive towards his children whenever he was. He was also depicted as (adorably) clumsy and forgetful. There were also implications that Amanda may have been abusing him. They were never depicted as being close or romantic at all, and in ep 3x08, Vincent literally said that Amanda hit him with a "foam rubber bat" to work out their marriage issues. And, when they all sat down for dinner at the end of the episode, Vincent was at the far end of the table near Summer's kids and away from Amanda: In that same scene, the three older siblings all started fighting, and when Vincent attempted to calm them down, they all ignored him and yelled over him. He clearly had no power or say-so in that household, whatsoever. Like Trent's depression, this is another topic that was implied, but far too dark for the show to have ever been able to deal with.

If that's the case, then Amanda's first hubby was clearly a former hippi. How else can you explain names like Summer and Wind.
Yeah, there is no resemblance between them and Trent and Jane.

I think all of them (Amanda, Amanda's First Hubby, Vincent) are ex-hippies. Actually, still hippies, not even ex ones, lol. In my stories, I have Vincent finally divorcing Amanda and finding a new place away from Lawndale. He becomes closer with Trent and Jane and takes them with him. Daria also moves in with them at some point. Vincent grows to love her like a daughter (and give her a caring, supportive parental figure that she doesn't have with her own parents) and actively encourages her relationship with Trent.

Keep the characters you love and get rid of the rubbish ones.

Yup. *nods* I don't have interest in any of the Lawndale High classmates (ie. Jodie, Brittany, Kevin, Mack, Upchuck, etc.), and it wouldn't even be realistic for Daria to still be in close contact with any of them past high school. They aren't her friends. They were never part of the same social circle. I don't need to write about them. I also like the idea of both Daria and the Lanes breaking away from toxic family (Helen/Jake/Quinn on Daria's side, Amanda/half-siblings on the Lanes' side) and creating their own little group.

I kind of did the same when I had Rex and Hannah decamp to Lovecraft Country, five years ago. I set them up in Arkham and surrounded them with new supporting characters (Randolph and Staci).
I didn't mind the Charmed Ones in of themselves, but Brad's Brood Of Brats, no thank you.
You're clearly doing the same for Daria, Trent, Jane, and Vince. Move them away from the other characters and set them up in a new town and such.

Exactly. *nods* This isn't some teen drama where everybody stays in the same town and goes to the same local college. There's no need to continue seeing the Lawndale High faculty or classmates, as they have no relevance to Daria's life past high school. Even Lawndale itself doesn't have much relevance past the high school setting. It's a generic Maryland exurb that has little of interest besides housing for DC/Baltimore commuters. Why would Daria and the Lanes want to stay in a place like that? And, Tom.... can just go lie in a ditch. This is the only way he deserves to be acknowledged: Daddy Lane help his sort-of daughter-in-law get over her abusive ex with a pinata!
