Thanks Tim. It'll be great seeing what we come up with obviously. In terms of other supporting characters perhaps Adam could be introduced season 1 whether via flashbacks as a young boy or teenager when John visited or as an adult when he and his mom are gonna be Ghoul victims which John gets wind off and goes off to help telling Sam and Dean not to come giving them a hunt as a distraction that they ignore and secretly follow John him having a go when he finds out what they've done having no choice but to introduce each other which doesn't go well at the start. Also I wouldn't mind seeing John's hunting friends Caleb and Pastor Jim or anyone else a couple of times before Meg killed them either at the Roadhouse or hunting with John separately talking about past hunts and how they each met which for Caleb could be him being an army vet like John say doing a tour or two in Afgan depending his age which I'm not sure what it was in the series other than him frequenting the Roadhouse in the '90s according to Jo Harvelle's journal then whilst meeting Jim Murphy could've occured after Mary died with his church being in Lawrence although John didn't believe in religion till after the fire in Sam's nursery happened actually. Jim could've been who taught John how to make holy water using a rosary blessing that via latin which he done during 'Salvation' then. WOW! I really love all of these ideas, these are perfect.
I was writing the first episode, I might add a bit more with Jim Murphy into it, and showing John meeting him. I still hope to finish that one off.
Some neat ideas. I agree, with using John's hunting friends Caleb and Pastor Jim or someone else a couple of times before Meg kills them. I especially love the idea, that Jim could've been who taught John how to make holy water using a rosary blessing, and perhaps Jim did meet John after Mary died, maybe Missouri is even the one to suggest he go visit him. Trinity , you set up a good backstory by showing a bit more with Missouri meeting John and helping them. I also like including Adam in season 1 in flashbacks or John visits them, and like your suggestions Melinda Halliwell for using him and maybe even meet Adam while John is alive. The episode Faith in season 1 dealt with a faith healer named Roy Le Grange healing people, perhaps Pastor Jim could be the one who is included in this particular episode to help Dean and Sam, maybe he even knows that healer. Me too, some excellent ideas.
Good idea Jean, I can see Jim appearing in that one, or them contacting him, if he has heard of this guy.

Good ideas on how to feature Jim Jean and the fact Missouri sends John knowing the Pastor well herself beforehand obviously.
With the season 1 episode 'Dead Man's Blood' you could already have John hunting with Caleb which you see them investigate a bit after John's former mentor Daniel Elkins is murdered by vampires then who Sam and Dean meet either arriving at Elkins house or afterwards perhaps with Caleb helping John and the boys before leaving making hearing and seeing Caleb's death in 'Salvation' harder for John having worked with him the few days or week before naturally.

In my case, I'll probably end up making up episodes, rather than alter existing ones. Hope no one minds, of course.

I don't mind at all, nothing said SDOW, can't be a mix of both altered existing episodes, original episodes or ones based on the Supernatural Animation show or the tie-in novels. I'm hoping to write a made up original episode myself, which will explore a bit more backstory on John, Bobby, Missouri in flashbacks.

The Supernatural Animated series, was kind of like that itself, it was a mix of original episodes not based on existing SPN episodes, and some based on the tie-in novels I think, and some adapted/altered from existing ones. I look forward to what you'll both come up with.

And that's the beauty of doing your own versions of tv shows in that you can totally make up original episodes or alter not so good ones to fit around whatever you want of course.
Myself personally thinks Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas should stay the overall theme for SDOW because it was the boys song and fitted Supernatural's theme so perfectly. Whether others agree or would want something else is up to then naturally.
In terms of Castiel I would have him stay Sam and Dean's friend and not something more with Dean like some fans have liked over the years or Destiel as is it was called because I preferred that better actually.
He and Dean can still have their profound bond which happens from Dean trying to teach Castiel how to be human with hilarious results like the stripclub and trying to buy pie in gas station shops, eating junk food and reading Busty Asian Beauties or whatever people want to use then.

I couldn't agree more with the Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas should stay the overall theme for SDOW. And we can do whatever we want, the fun of fanfics and virtual series, some episodes can be original or altered or adapted from other sources.
I agree Castiel should stay Sam and Dean's friend, and I really like his friendship and bond, and do not want more with Dean even if some fans thought that.
I'd love it when Castiel tries to understand human ways, it really was so hilarious. I look forward to when we bring him in, I think after the Yellow-Eyed Demon is killed at the earliest.
Maybe because the third season was the writer's strike season, we can pretend that didn't happen, and combine the third and fourth season together, and follow the original plans before the writers strike affect season 3 with Mary Winchester's connection to the Yellow-Eyed Demon and the demon war, and Sam's demonic abilities were to have seen him save Dean from Hell, by giving in to his demonic powers and becoming "this fully operational dark force" who would then want to go after Lilith. And Season four was supposed to be a big all-out demon war, but budget cuts got in the way, for SDOW, that won't be an issue of course.

Dean and Castiel as friends not anything more, is perfect to me. I mean, if you want LGBT stories/characters, that's what Charlie can serve or Claire.

Maybe Dean's deal to save Sam after he was killed by one of the Special Children, he isn't given a year, but actually is set to die once YED is defeated, so Dean is already killed by a Hellhound not long after they use the colt to kill YED. Then Castiel will bring him back at the start of season 3, while Sam is hunting on his own or with his friends, and where he met Ruby, who tells him about the demon war, and about Lilith.
You can also have Missouri taking the place of Pamela to try and contact Castiel if you want, whether her eyes get burnt out for seeing his true form can go either way.
This can lead into introducing Rowena when we meet the witches coven, and learn that Ruby was once a witch, who knew Rowena in the past.

Fantastic ways of introducing Castiel, Ruby and Rowena Kyle who we find out later on is Crowley's mother if we include him of course and having Dean die before the years up with Cas raising him from perdition bringing him in one season earlier so he has two full years before the end if we finish around season 5's 'Swan Song'. Would SDOW just include characters from the show or possibly a crossover or two with other shows like Buffy, Charmed or the X Files for instance like this picture here. created by Artstation here i.pinimg.com/originals/fc/58/6f/fc586ff2a9544ba0fa8f04c3fa87c677.jpg thinking along the lines of 'The French Mistake' a very funny episode where Sam and Dean are sent to an alternate reality by Balthazar or whoever ending up in one these shows whether in the past or whatever helping the people there before coming back afterwards of course?

That's fantastic ways of introducing Castiel, Ruby and Rowena into the story. I really like that suggestion Kyle. And good idea for just sticking with Missouri who we know as the psychic. Me too, very good ideas. I like finding out later on that she is Crowley's mother, maybe we hear about her son, but don't know that her son is the king of the Crossroads Demons until later, if he use him or not. I don't see why not, I mean they did the Scooby Doo crossover, we could also poke fun with them entering up in an alternate reality by Balthazar and including other shows like Buffy, Charmed or the X Files. I like using X Files, since the show SPN has crew and actors who appeared on that show, and I can see lots of jokes with Dean and Sam posing as FBI, when Mulder and Scully are real FBI. Unless the X Files is a show in SPN's world, and Sam or Dean loved their show, and getting to meet their idols, who would have been young in the 90s seeing the show.

That would be funny seeing certainly.
The benders episode if Doanna's introduced instead of the other sheriff seen originally could have her arguing with Jody about her concerns over her brother missing in a scene if they worked at the same police station obviously or they could both find out about the supernatural together however that is and be lead to the Roadhouse meeting Ellen, Bobby plus Sam and Dean.
Regarding death we should make sure that means something so when Dean said, "What's dead should stay dead" Originally it does then meaning no resurrection or anything otherwise a consequence happens similar to my own version of Charmed 'Styx Feet Under' when Piper and Paige lost 5 years of their live for bringing Piper's future daughter Mel back after she killed her previous episode when she was a werewolf so that doesn't happen again.

The show did this again and again with strong female characters. Let's not make that same mistake.
I said in an earlier post that the Oz episode should have been Charlie's final appearance. And here I took steps to make sure she got happy ending, and wasn't just thrown away. The other strong female characters, like Ellen and Jo, should also get better treatment, IMO.
What do you all think?

Oh definitely Tim otherwise what's the point of having people for them just to die as quickly as they come in.
