Children in the UK are quite intelligent depending on what area they're from. Most know who our Prime Minister is and who the Queen and Prince Philip were also. Kids are taught rudimentary stuff in primary school so they're prepared when they start senior school. Some need help like I did when I was younger but then that's why classrooms have teaching assistants although mostly they work with SEN children overall. That’s good British children learn what part of the UK they live in and who the current monarch and prime minister are, I think Rishi Sunak is the first prime minister of color and I imagine keeping track of all the British counties is hard. It’s scary American children don’t know what state they live in or who the president is, each state is distinctive and the president is very important. Tomorrow is Election Day in the US so all the schools are closed since they’re used as poling places, we’re having the elections for state representatives and next year is the presidential election. And schools are closed Thursday and Friday because of the NJ Teacher Convention, so I only work two days this week

Election Day is the Tuesday of the 2nd week in November and this year they’re doing the voting for state representatives, schools are closed because many of them are used as polling places

Schools in the UK close for polling days as well depending on what ones are those then.
Other buildings are also used as polling stations like my local community centre which my area use too.

Won't need to close schools down, when no school would be running on a weekend.

The last few days I’ve been subbing in a 6th grade science class and there’s several things wrong already. Some of the kids can’t access the science program on Google Classroom and I have them do homework or other class work to keep them busy. And apparently there aren’t anymore dress codes, I’ve seen kids show up in pajamas or pajama bottoms with tasteless T-shirts that have rap album covers or swear words on them while wearing Crocs or bedroom slippers. I remember wearing jeans and rock band shirts to school, I’d be embarrassed to leave the house that sloppy

That's weird but not unheard of either.
UK schools all have uniforms which the kids wear in primary and senior of course.
They have the school logos on them as do other things like water bottles, rucksacks or book bags as well.

I wish the schools had uniforms, the kids are so sloppy it’s horrifying to see kids in pajama bottoms and offensive T-shirts and Crocs in school. I’m really upset right now, I was in a 6th grade English class and most of the students were pretty good. One period, though, were evil kids. There were 25 and most of them were extremely loud, one huge fat boy kept picking on a much smaller boy and overturning desks.
Worse than that, there was a girl with ADD who wire noise-canceling headphones and it was so loud the headphones couldn’t shut out the noise and she was in literal pain. I told the class to quiet down and they only got louder and were laughing at her, then they cheered when she had to go to the office to work. I told them ADD is a real condition and they thought she was a wimp and faking it to get out of class, even though she was in tears and in pain. Even worse was that the girl was white and the loudest boys who were making fun of her disability were African American, they thought she was a weak white girl. I wrote a note to the teacher explaining everything so she can talk to them when she gets back.

Back in GDR times, we only had to wear some uniforms when there were some big events, regarding the Socialism era (and Soviet Union, GDR ...).

Today I witnessed the most messed up thing in all my teaching career. I was in a 5th grade English class when a fight broke out between two fat girls. One girl accidentally knocked over the other girl’s bottle of Gatorade and the other girl started cursing at her. Next thing you know they’re literally wrestling on the floor and tearing each other’s hair and cursing, I had one of the boys get the security guard and got the rest of the kids to stay in a corner so no one got hurt. The security guard had to break up the fight and call for backup to escort the girls to the office. That is easily the most fucked up thing I’ve seen in a school, pardon my language

Yea, I've heard that U.S. schools have had security guards as a result of Columbine.

We do, and they’re armed too along with having actual cops in the building. That fight was so messed up, according to the security guards those two girls hate each other and they fight all the time. I wonder who thought it was a good idea to have them in the same class, luckily nobody got hurt
