So, I have been rewatching Sabrina lately, and really enjoy the show. So much love and a real escape from real life. I know nobody born today, will like it, and laugh at it, and want dark and edgy.
But, so far, I've actually liked all the seasons, apart from S4, (but only a few I've liked). I even don't mind the college years. In S6 right now.
I really hate S7, so I'm just going to jump from the end of S6 to the end of S7. I do like the finale.

I'm the same also in these uncertain times.
I prefer watching light funny programmes over dark edgy one's unless there well written and character-driven which engage me of course.

I'm not alone. Also been re-watching old Scooby-Doo and some Flintstones too. There is a reason Buffy, Charmed, and Supernatural (heck even X-Files had plenty of comedic episodes, it wasn't the same thing every week) has lasting appeal. It doesn't take itself so seriously. Like, these new shows, I can't see any humor or any funny or light heart moments. At least you watched buffy or supernatural, and every week wasn't the same genre. One week could be a horror, the next is a comedic episode. That's why I love those shows to death. These days, all these shows are the same genre style episode in and out. Doesn't help, it's so serialized, to the point, none of the characters have any fun and comedic moments. There's zero fun in shows these days. I'm over the dark and edgy, it's getting to be too depressing. I feel so sad, that the younger crowd (not all, but the majority) can't appreciate some of the older shows for what they are, they are so trapped with this dark and edgy mindset, and that's all they know. Oh, well. It's why Legends of Tommorw is my favourite DC show because it doesn't take itself seriously. Also, Superman and Lois, no doubt will do that, as that is what a Superman show is suppose to be fun and light-hearted.

Yes, not all shows need to be dark and edgy.

The first three seasons are just pure magic (no pun intended), and I can endlessly rewatch them over and over again. (I also fully agree with you on S4 and S7 being the show's weakest links.) This only makes me hate the Netflix show (and edgy comic it was based on) even more. How can you completely suck the fun and joy out of something like Sabrina? And, add in a bunch of devil-worship and thinly-veiled racism? Also been re-watching old Scooby-Doo and some Flintstones too. Heard the recent news about Velma? There is a reason Buffy, Charmed, and Supernatural (heck even X-Files had plenty of comedic episodes, it wasn't the same thing every week) has lasting appeal. It doesn't take itself so seriously. Like, these new shows, I can't see any humor or any funny or light heart moments. Also, Superman and Lois, no doubt will do that, as that is what a Superman show is suppose to be fun and light-hearted. Quoted for truth. It seems like modern shows are overly obsessed with being super edgy/woke and incorporating current events and current issues into the storyline, and I'm like, aren't these shows supposed to be an escape from all of that? Why do I want to watch a show about a miserable dystopia when I can just turn on the news?

Netflix sure found a way.
Only made people realize how great the 90's sitcom was.

They really are, and I couldn't agree more, when I re-watched then, I didn't hate any episodes. Just enjoyed the ride, and escape. Me too. I really don't get why people liked that. It kills the fun for me. Now, if they rebooted Sabrina, but didn't make it a straight up sitcom, but more Buffy, with the same humour and fun, or more like the original television film of Sabrina they did before the series. Worst part was not having Salem talk in it. I hated the devil-worship, and racism. Now the actresses were okay for the most part, the content they got was bad, I couldn't make it past the first two episodes. I haven't, but I'll check it out now. [/quote]Exactly. We watch to escape from all the stuff in real life. I hate seeing all of this. Granted, I'm not American, but still I don't want to see so many social issues included. God forbid, COVID-19 is included in shows. I pray they just skip over it. Netflix sure found a way.

Of course, I came into this show in the later seasons, so I do like them.
Nice that the show got a happy ending, with Sabrina and Harvey riding off together.

Well, this show was made by the same people who took the Archie characters and slapped them on an edgy Twin Peaks/Veronica Mars/PLL knockoff. It's all about using a familiar brand to sell a show that probably wouldn't have otherwise sold on its own. Very few people would've even watched this mess if it wasn't called "Sabrina." Exactly. We watch to escape from all the stuff in real life. I hate seeing all of this. Granted, I'm not American, but still I don't want to see so many social issues included. God forbid, COVID-19 is included in shows. I pray they just skip over it. I will give up on current TV for good if COVID starts being incorporated into TV shows. We DON'T need it to infect the fictional world like it already has the real world. Let people have their escapism.

If you liked escapism, this was the show for you.
Be cool if my own cat could talk.

It sure was. And it still ages well today, just forget about technology and fashion. Salem always made me laugh. In my re-watch and after I finish S6 (And Victor Bennet from Charmed made a guest appearance as Josh's dad in the one I just finished), I'm going to be re-watching the first episode of S7 and then jumping straight to the finale. I just can't sit through S7. But, watched every other season. I really did enjoy S5 and S6. Not the golden years of 1-3, but still fun. Like I said, 4 & 7 are the worse ones.

That's so true, and typical of today. It is why, I don't want them to bring back Buffy, even if it is a new slayer, because you know a black lead will mean it will bring all the current world issues into it. Agreed. We don't need this. I know we'll get a COVID-19 movie made, and I won't be watching that.

S7 was hit by budget cuts. That's why a few characters just disappeared without reason.
